December 24 – January 20
The Celtic calendar begins with the month of the Birch Moon, a time of new beginnings and making plans for the future.
Beginning, Renewal, Youth, Stability, Initiation, Adaptability.
The Birch tree, a solar emblem, is connected to passion, energy, renewal and growth. In Celtic times, Druids would use the birch bark as kindling to start their fires as it would ignite even when damp. This represents the spiritual aspect of the Birch tree, that even when things are pushing us down, and our spirits are dampened, we can always reignite the fire with sparks of divine passion and energy from inside.
The Birch tree can survive in the harshest conditions and still adapt and thrive in its surroundings, growing bright and beautiful, putting down new roots where none other have before.
“Shine, take hold, express your creative expanse, light the way so that others may follow.”
